Writing SEO articles will help you to increase your website traffic quickly. That’s because SEO articles that are optimized for certain keywords will get picked by search engines quicker than regular non-SEO articles. But, you need to know the rules so that you can effectively grab the top spot in the search engine result. Here are 10 main rules that you need to adhere when writing SEO articles:
#1. The Information You Present Must Be High Quality
First of all, you need to take a look at the quality of your article. High quality content is in-demand right now. Search engines are looking for high quality content, and search engines are constantly banishing low quality content from their search result. The quality of your article has a lot to do with the information that you present. Provide interesting information in your article that people will like to read and learn.
#2. It Must Be Unique
Your article must not be re-written from other articles. It must be uniquely yours, and written in a unique voice. Don’t try to be someone else when you write your articles. SEO articles need to be unique and fresh. If you want to present an idea, make it unique and different from the rest. It will help your ranking.
#3.Include Only Relevant Links
If you want to put some links in your article, you need to include only relevant links. Why? Relevancy is important for search engines. If you give links that are irrelevant to your article topic, then those links will be regarded as spam links. Search engines will detect those links and they will regard your article as spam as well.
#4. It Must Flow Naturally
Don’t write like a robot. Write like a human being. Write like you talk. Remember that your readers will be human, so you need to make your article to flow naturally. If you can’t do this, people can’t read your article properly. If people don’t read it, why would you expect the search engines to rank your article? If it doesn’t have a good flow, it won’t rank high and dominate the search engines.
#5. The Keywords Must Be Placed Throughout Your Article
Don’t place your keywords only in one place within your article. For instance, you can’t place your keywords only on the third paragraph within your article. This will be regarded as keyword stuffing, and it is not a good way to do SEO. If you want to write good SEO articles, you have to make sure that your keywords are placed throughout your article.
SEOPressor V5 is an amazing WordPress plugin that will help you have the right mix of keywords and stop you from over doing it. this plugin also allows you to edit rich snippets for the search engines and automatic smart linking for great SEO.
#6. Target Relevant Keywords As Well
Don’t just target a single keyword. Search engines are beginning to rank high articles that have LSI keywords in it. It means that if you include relevant keywords as well, your articles will get ranked higher by the search engines. So, you must include one main keyword and several relevant keywords in your SEO article.
#7. Write Like You Talk when Writing SEO Articles
In order to make your article to flow naturally, you need to write like you talk. Don’t separate the way you talk with the way you write. Your writing will have a unique voice if you can write like you talk. People will be engaged more in your writing if you have this unique voice. It is important for SEO. SEO article needs to be written in a way that will engage your readers.
#8. Provide In-Depth Information
Articles with in-depth information are getting ranked high very quickly. So, rather than writing a 300-word article, you should aim to write for a 750-word article or more. It will allow you to present in-depth information in your SEO article. This in-depth information will help your readers more to understand about what you’re trying to say.
#9. Edit And Proofread Your Article
Search engines generally won’t rank the article that has bad spelling and grammatical errors. Search engines have a sophisticated method to recognize articles that have bad spelling and grammatical errors. They will regard such article as low quality. So, it is always important for you to edit and proofread your SEO article before you publish it online.
#10. Help Your Readers
In the end, the goal for you in writing your SEO article is to help your readers. So, make sure that you can accomplish this goal. Don’t just focus on the SEO aspect of your article, but focus more on the way you help your readers with your article. Helpful article will get good amount of traffic for a long time.
Those are the main rules that you need to adhere when writing SEO article. SEO is not just about optimizing your content for the search engine, but it is also about how you communicate your thoughts to your readers.

Hey !
Well awesome post. I totally agree with you that content should be unique. I have read many post which has the same concept with just different wordings. I think different writers should write different ideas so that readers could get variety of ideas.
Thanks.

Yes but these posts with the same concept do not make the big time because someone has been there and done that. Unless you do it with a new original twist. 🙂
Flow of the content is the most vital thing here because many writers lack in maintaining consistency in their article which sometimes frustrates audience to read the entire article. The article should be written in such a way that it catches the reader’s mind and interest. You have well said “Write like you talk”…. So that audience feels that you as an author are talking to them. Masterpiece, chap! Thanks for the share!

Using more than 3 keywords is also a bad idea! Well said, for good SEO practices, the keywords should be evenly distributed in the entire article. I completely agree on your #3 point, only relevant links should be used to save your blog become spam. Very well-written and fantastic post by you!
I am still learning and working hard to become a better blogger. Thanks for sharing this information. Great article…will be changing some of my strategies to target the right audience.
Thanks i am new in the world of seo but it will help me alot to perofrm better and to provide more quality articles to my readers through my blog.
Great post once again, Mitz.
Not so sure about the keywords being everywhere in the article.
After the latest Panda(or was it Penguin?) update, I was under the impression relevant keywords should only be in the title and somewhere in the beginning of the article or else it appears stuffed.

Hi Owen.
I write long articles but always have keywords all the way through. I usually put 1-5 keywords or LSI keywords in every 500 words. My sites were not hit by any updates. The only time I lose rankings is when my sites have errors like broken backlinks etc.
I would never do an article unless it targeted something and did that very clearly too. Not clear to humans though. SEO helps people find your content.

You are quite right,Mitz. I forgot that your articles are long. I was thinking of 500 to max 600 word articles. Thanks

Very useful tips for beginners. I read that each post should be long 300-500 words with 5-8% keyword density. I recommend each article to share on social networks like twitter or facebook. It is also good to draw attention to a new article on Squidoo or Hubpages.

I do agree that Squidoo and Hubpages are good for promotion..:)

I agree Mitz, that % is WAY too high, 1 – 3 % per 1000 words. And a 300 word article is way too short, wonder where this guy read this 😉 Going by that formula, it would be 300 words @ 5% kw density = 15 keywords!!! Big no no

Good advise. There are several wordpress plugins that can help a webmaster or a blogger to “seo” a blog post. Some are even free. (just do a search in wordpress.org). I have also noticed that posts larger than 500 words and posts with a keyword density of around 2-4% is very popular with google. A keyword density of 2-4% means that your keyword should pop up 2-4 times pr 100 word you write.
I personally like closer to 2% but then I optimize for LSI keywords also..:) I have always done this and my rankings are great!
