When building a WordPress website, one of the things that you must know how to do, is to embed a Youtube video into your website. I have always focused on getting traffic from Youtube but never actually on adding the vi doe to your website. Embedding a video is not that hard to do, however there are a few different processes that you can use. These processes on how to embed a Youtube video could change from day to day.

At one stage you could not put Iframe code into your WordPress website so I am basing this tutorial on that fact. Youtube actually changed its embed code and took away the option to get the old code. However now I notice that you can get two types of code from Youtube.

The actual code to embed a Youtube video html looks like this:

<iframe width=”480″ height=”390″   src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/tmhksy12yt4″ frameborder=”0″   allowfullscreen></iframe>

The Old code looks like this below:

<object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie”   value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/3wkN_xCp4HE&hl=en&fs=1″></param><param   name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param   name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed   src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/3wkN_xCp4HE&hl=en&fs=1″   type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always”   allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″   height=”344″></embed></object>

What happens when you embed a Youtube video into your WordPress website?

When you embed a Youtube video into your WordPress website, the video is available on your website for your visitors to view. This means that you are not storing the video, but it is available on your website to see. This way you can use Youtube’s bandwidth for free and still make your website look great with videos that you are either made yourself or requested from another Youtube user.

There is a big play button in the middle of the video for the person to press, and once they have done this the video will play. If they click on the video a few times they will be taken to Youtube, to the original page where the video exists. Therefore it is probably better if you do embed a Youtube video that you have made. Don’t worry if you haven’t got your own videos as it is definitely fine to embed someone else’s. In fact you are very welcome to embed any of my computer basics videos on your website.

How to embed a Youtube video HTML code into a WordPress website?

The first way to embed Youtube video into your WordPress website is to click on the box to use the old code. Int the screen shot below you can see the last box where the arrow is pointing to. You need to place a tick in this box to see the old code.

Select the code by making it blue, right click on the blue selection, and select copy form the menu.

Then you simple paste the code into the HTML section of your post or page.

The second option to embed Youtube video HTML into WordPress is to download a plug-in that will allow you to insert Youtube videos easily. I have “Iframe embed for Youtube” plugin. This means I only have to press a button and add the Youtube URL into the box provided and the video will be added into my WordPress post.

I have tried to press on the add video icon in WordPress but it will not embed the Youtube video. It will only make a link to the video.

Notes on how to embed a Youtube video:

If you are pasting this into your HTML of a website you can paste this code anywhere between the <body> and </body> tag.

You can also upload your own Youtube video to Youtube and then paste the code into your website. See how to upload a video to Youtube.

In a forum post if embedding Youtube video’s is enabled then you can sometimes put the url of the video in between [youtube] tags [/yoututbe].

Adding video to your website can improve your websites bounce rate on Google Analytics as people will stay on your website for longer. Video also enhances how to tutorials and lessons by showing hands on situations. It is really like having a personal teacher in the room with you.

Finding which keywords to use for your WordPress website or even just a single post is a sure fire way to make to your success. After all, targeting the right keywords has proven to be a magnet for the search engines, whereas using unfocused keywords is simply wasting your precious time. This is part of onpage SEO techniques that are just so absolutely important to the success of your WordPress Website.

Most webmasters have no idea which keywords to use and many do not even know what a keyword is. It is not an easy thing to just know and this is why I use the Google external keyword tool to help me out.

Where is the Google external keyword tool so I can find which keywords to use?

Finding out which keywords to use with the Google external keyword tool is very important for SEO purposes. There is no point guessing and just hoping your posts or website will rank for certain keywords. You should take the time to find out which keywords you should be using in order to get the most website traffic you possibly can.

How to use the Google external keyword tool to find which keywords to use?

1.  Go to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

2. Enter the a keyword into the box provided.

3. Fill in the security word and press search.

For more details watch the video below. It shows how easily it is to see which keywords are the right ones. The difference between the right and wrong keywords can be very minor.

Watch this video to see how to find which keywords to use with the Google external keyword tool

IFRAME Embed for Youtube

Notes on how to find which keywords to use with the Google external keyword tool

Not researching your keywords is just a stab in the dark.

Finding which keywords to use is also important for single posts as it is shown in the video above.

Never under estimate the power of the keywords. Please see 10 top onpage SEO techniques.

Here is an another video on How to find a niche. It also uses the Google keyword tool.

My theory is that keywords are people. This is because people are the ones typing the words into the search engines and therefore creating the need for that keyword. If people are not searching for a particular keyword then that keyword is useless.

I also stumbled across a WordPress plugin that John chow uses called Keyword Winner. It takes all the hard work out of finding which keyword to use for your individual blog posts. I suggest you simply go and watch the demo video on how this plugin works because it will save you a hell of a lot of time!

See Video For Keyword Winner

Also download my FREE SEO report. This will explain a few more things in detail.

So the moral of the story is that finding which keywords to use is very important to the success of your post, page, or website.

When you start using the Socrates WordPress theme you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to create a mini site or sales page. In fact the Socrates WordPress theme has hundreds of customizable options to help you in your website development. I have previously purchased 4 of the top WordPress Website themes and have ended up using Socrates for more than 50% of my websites. Out of all these themes and hundreds of free ones, Socrates kicks their butts in every way.

Not only does Socrates create fantastic WordPress websites, it easily makes sale pages, squeeze pages, mini sites, and more.

In the video tutorial below I will show you how I created a mini site with a sales page that has been approved by Clickbank.

If you are interested in learning about this WordPress theme:

Click here for the free trial of Socrates

You can also get the Socrates free trial and find out if you like what you see.

Click here for the free trial of Socrates

Notes from the video:

You can create a page and make it a static front page instead of having posts.

You can make a page and choose the sales page template.

You can choose to show the header, ads, and links, or remove them for the individual page.

You can nofollow and noindex any page by ticking a box. For example your thank you page with your download link.

You can password protect a page. For example your product page.

Later I changed my theme to Thesis, another great WordPress theme, however the conversions dropped dramatically. Therefore I had to remodel Thesis to look like Socrates. I got Thesis because I am a Geek but Socrates is a must for non technical people.

I will try anything to get rid of spam comments on my website and having a comment policy message on your website is a good idea.

Just a simple message just above the comment form does wonders. Here is the example I used.

Website comment policy:
**Please be aware that all comments made are moderated and SPAM will not be published.
**Comments must relate to the post topic. This website is here to help people, not for your advertising purposes.

I placed this in the comment.php.

Watch this video tutorial to see how I embedded this message into the php code of my WordPress website.

CODE I USED

<div>

<b>Comment Policy in force from 01 Nov 2010</b>

**Please be aware that all comments made are moderated and <b><i>SPAM will not be published</i></b>.
**Comments must relate to the post topic. This website is here to help people, not for your advertising purposes.

</div>

Does a comment policy message work?

In a nutshell, yes. Besides all the monster spam protection plugins, small amounts of spam commenters were getting through. This way it makes them think twice before even bothering to put a comment that will only get deleted in the long run.

One feature I would like to see in WordPress is the ability to just drag any image you have uploaded into your website into a sidebar widget. Wouldn’t that be easy? Yes of course it would, however this option does not exist at the moment and you will have to follow my steps to manually add an image to your sidebar. There possibly could be a plugin that does this for you but I have too many plugins installed already and it does not take long to do this yourself.

It’s not as if you are going to be adding an image to your sidebar every day. This process would usually only be done once or twice on the average WordPress website and when it is done, you can leave it in place for as long as you wish.

Why would you want to add an image to the sidebar?

You might want to add a small banner, like I have in the video below, to promote something on your website.

You might want to add a picture of yourself in a prominent position on your website.

You could just add an image to the sidebar for website design purposes. Maybe you need a bit of color to jazz up the place.

How to add an image to your sidebar?

The first thing we have to do is upload the image we want to insert into our WordPress website sidebar.

1. Go to the side menu in your WordPress Dashboard and click on Media.

2. Click on the Add New button.

3. Upload your image and copy the image url. See the screen shot below.

<img title="widgets-sidebar44" src="../wp-content/uploads/2010/09/widgets-sidebar44.png" alt="image to the sidebar"width="563" height="87" />

Now we need to place this URL and some html into a text widget in the sidebar.

1. Click on Appearance in the side menu of your website dashboard.

2.       Then click on Widgets.

3. Grab a text widget and drag it into your sidebar. Mine is called the primary sidebar in the picture below.

4. Open the text widget by pressing the tiny drop down arrow.

5. Paste your Url that you copied into the widget. Add the Html to your URL. See tutorial below.

6.       Press save.

<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-572" title="widgets-sidebar1" src="http://letsbuildwebsites.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/widgets-sidebar1-264x300.png" alt="image to the sidebar"width="264" height="300" />

How to place your Image URL into html code:

In order for your image to show, we have to command it to by using html. As you can see below, I have given an example of where to put your image URL. You must use the <img src= tag, then your URL, and then end the tag with />.

Sample of the html code to insert an image into a sidebar:

<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-574" title="widgets-sidebar-html" src="http://letsbuildwebsites.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/widgets-sidebar-html1.png" alt="image to the sidebar"width="596" height="177" />

<img src=”http://tips4pc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/ebook-signup2.png” width=”300″ height=”75″ />

Here’s how to make your image into a hyperlink:

<a href=”http://eepurl.com/dg4J”>
<img src=”http://tips4pc.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/ebook-signup2.png” width=”300″ height=”75″></a>

Tips to creating the HTML for your image to appear:

Copy my HTML code for a starting point and paste it into your text widget.

Replace the image URL with your image URL.

Use this code for just the image without resizing it <img src=”Image URL” />

If you want to make your image a link, replace the PINK URL above.

Watch this video to see me actually adding an image to my sidebar. I will also show you how to re-size it so it will fit nicely into its spot.

How to re-size the image to fit into the WordPress website sidebar?

This section of the html is setting the image size: width=”300″ height=”75″

If you wish to adjust this then all you have to do is change the numbers in the “”"”.

Please see the video for more details on how to do this.

Download this article as a PDF (Will open in another browser window. You can then save it to your computer).

This video tutorial about “the next step” when installing a WordPress Website turned out to be longer than I thought. In the first video called Build a WordPress Website from scratch I showed how to change your domain name servers, create a domain on your hosting, upload a WordPress Website, and then finally sign into it to start developing it. All that only took 13 minutes, however this video is more like 40 minutes long so I am WARNING you in advance.

To continue with these tutorials you must have bought website hosting, a domain name, and installed WordPress. This is about starting a business so it gets serious now!

What you will learn in the video:

What settings to change as soon as you have installed your WordPress Website?

How to change your permalinks and why?

How to find related keywords for your niche and download the keywords to use.

How to choose your category titles?

How to make SEO categories?

How to install plugins and which ones are very necessary?

If you can put up with the rambling, this video will teach you some solid tips about installing and starting a WordPress Website.

Hands up who wants to rank number one on Google search for your chosen keywords? Oh only two people… I said “who wants to have their WordPress website on the first page of Google for their keywords?” Oh everyone does. Ok, now we are getting somewhere.

I have many strategies that I use to dominate the first page of Google and one of my all time favorites is using a Youtube Video. I can see you are pulling faces now. Can you stop detracting me? We all need to start taking Youtube a bit more serious. When most people think of Youtube a funny video comes to mind, or a funny blooper. Remove that thought from your mind and think of Youtube as a traffic source and a big pat on the back for your website. And when you get that big pat on the back from your Youtube video it will take your website closer to the top of Google for your keywords.

How does using Youtube video help a website rank in Google?

If you make a Youtube video using the keywords for your website in the title, that Youtube video sometimes has a better chance of ranking higher than your actual website does. You’ve most likely seen it. When you search for something, anything basically, there are the typical results showing. A few top websites, a Youtube video, maybe an Ezine article, and then a few more websites. Has anyone else noticed this. It’s not always like that but you get the idea. Some Google search results might show a Squidoo lense or a Wikipedia page but Youtube is always close by.

Tips for using a Youtube video to improve your WordPress website rankings in Google:

Go to Youtube and type your websites keywords into the search bar there. Find your competition.

See what your competition is NOT doing and do that. Think about what you can do better than them.

Examine how a competition video has got so many views. Study their SEO techniques such as keywords in the title, tags for the video, and words in the description.

Submit an article to Ezine articles that is focused on the same keywords and that links to your Youtube video URL. Youtube will love that you are link building to their website.

Make more than one video using different variations of the video title. This way you will have a better chance of finding the right combination of keywords.

Social bookmark your video. Share it around on Twitter and Facebook.

So your Youtube video ranks well in Google, what about my website?

youtube views

Under each Youtube video you upload be sure to have a link to your website in the description of your video. It has to be the first text you put into your Youtube video description. This link will bring you traffic to your website, but it will also show Google that the keywords of this popular video is related to your website. Everything you do should end up at your website. So the Ezine article you posted earlier with a link to your Youtube video, which in turns points to your website can only benefit your website rankings. See the screen shot below. You can see the link to my website where the red arrow is pointing. It is the first link you see and people have a habit of clicking.

In this video tutorial below I ramble on about what video I should make for my keywords and some strategies I might use to get better rankings in Google.

This is one of the questions I continually asked myself. How could I manage all of my WordPress websites at once without having to login to all the different websites individually? Wouldn’t it be heaven if you could install 10-20 plugins into 20 different websites at the same time? Imagine if you could see pending comments from all your websites and answer them from on easy location?
