If you want to be a successful blogger and create a high traffic blog, consistency is an essential part of the formula. This is where many people fall flat. They start out blogging every day, but when they don’t instantly strike it rich, they lose motivation. This prevents their blog from ever becoming popular.
There are all kinds of tricks and strategies you can use to make your blog look great, generate traffic and become SEO friendly. None of this, however, will help you if you aren’t consistent with your efforts. That’s why I’m going to focus on this point and give you tips on how to blog every single day!
Why Consistency is Critical
The most important single factor with any blog or website is content. This is the “stuff” that you actually publish on your blog. This is what draws both visitors and search engines to your site.
If people like your content, they will do things like bookmark it, share it with others and look closely at any offers that you have. If you have an opt-in list, they will sign up for it. The search engines value quality content above all else too.
Both quality and quantity are relevant with your content. You want your blog posts and other content to be original, well written and relevant to your audience. This is what draws people to your site, whether they find you via search engines or paid advertising.
Yet even having quality content isn’t enough if you only have a few posts on your site. This simply isn’t enough to generate massive traffic or impress Google and other search engines. For this, you need lots of great content.
Every one of your blog posts should have a unique title and subject. Even though you will probably have many posts on similar topics, they should all have a slightly different angle. For example, you can have dozens of reviews for the exact same product, but each of them can focus on a different feature or benefit.
When you start accumulating a large number of posts, each of them has the potential to bring more visitors. Each also contains keywords that attract the attention of the search engine spiders. The only way to have sufficient content on your site is to blog consistently!
Tips to Help You Blog Every Day
There are no hidden secrets for blogging consistently, but here are a few tips that can help you develop this habit. I use these habits to help me publish new content on my blogs everyday. So, these tips are proven to work 100%!
Develop a Routine
Whether you’re a full time or part time blogger, you should find a convenient time to blog every day. When you get accustomed to it, you’ll find that you can accomplish a lot in just 15 minutes or so. But if you don’t set aside time every day, you’ll only blog when you feel like it – which will not be often enough!
See Mitz’s blogging routine. This is an example you can follow.
Write Blog Posts Ahead of Time
If you get ahead of schedule for your blog posts, you won’t run out of material. This way, all you have to do is publish a post that’s already written.
Rather than write a new blog post every day, it’s often easier to set aside an hour or two per week where you write a series of posts. You can even write a few longer articles that you divide up into shorter posts.
If you have any extra time, or you ever feel inspired, take the trouble to write a few blog posts. You will then be sure to have material for your blog when you need it!
Search For Topics
One reason people don’t blog regularly is that they run out of ideas. There are, however, many places to find inspiration for topics. Here are a few examples:
- Google Trends
- Yahoo! Answers
- E-commerce sites such as Amazon.com, look at bestsellers in both Kindle and printed books
- Magazines – print as well as online versions
- Top Blogs and Newsletters in Your Niche – keep up with what the competition is doing
These are just a few suggestions that will give you ideas for blog posts.
Become a Content Curator
This is something that many top sites do. It involves linking to popular content that’s already on the web. You have to be careful how you do this, though.
Don’t just copy and paste articles or news stories from other sites. You really just want the link to the story. You should use the title of the story as anchor text and then link to it. You should also add a little commentary of your own, which makes your blog post original content.
Some sites are strictly curation sites, but you can also use curated content to fill in the blanks when you can’t think of an original post to write. You can “curate” not only stories and articles, but also images and videos.
Get Into the Habit of Blogging Consistently
Blogging every day is a habit, just like any other. Whether you create a single blog post every day, write a series of them every week or hire someone else to do it is your choice. You have to find the schedule and approach that works for you.
No matter what you blog about, consistency is the single most important factor that will determine your success. You also have to focus on the design of your blog, SEO and coming up with good topics. However, getting fresh content published daily is a must if you want to attract both traffic and high search engine rankings!
