Searching For Dofollow Related Blogs To Comment On?

I am really into promoting my blogs and believe it or not blog commenting plays a big part in this. I have a certain plan that I follow for all my websites and have even been experimenting with dead websites, bringing them to the top of the search engines. Commenting on a blog is mainly used for traffic purposes, however it can also build great relationships. But you cannot just comment on any old blog or website.

Blogs to comment on for SEO purposes?

Don’t let Google here you say you are commenting for SEO! This is not acceptable, to do anything for SEO.

  1. A “Do Follow” blog or website. This is the number one factor for commenting on a website or blog unless you are commenting to get traffic and not link juice. See what is a “nofollow” link? and how to tell if a blog is “nofollow” or “dofollow”. Dofollow comments are rare now days.
  2. A blog that accepts comments. ( Obviously)
  3. A blog or website that is related to your niche. ( Not so Obvious )

How to find a “dodollow” blog to comment on?

I search in google to find blogs and websites that will accept comments and are “dofollow”. Here are some ways to search for a “dofollow” blog.

Commentluv Blogs: If you look for blogs that have this plugin they are almost always dofollow. They let you comment and also place a link to your latest post on your blog. The following search string will find a keyword in the title of a post and find you blogs enable with commentluv. So for example if I wanted to search for blogs that had the keywords “outlook express” in the title I would put the following:

intitle:outlook express “commentluv”

How to tell if a link is “dofollow”?

Even when you find a blog or website you still need to confirm that it is indeed “nofollow” free. You can do this by installing a free Firefox plugin that will highlight the “nofollow” link. See how to show “nofollow” links.

Here are some more ideas to search for “dofollow” blogs:

intitle:computer tips “powered by wordpress”

intitle:computer tips “nofollow free”

Now please note…Even though a blog has a Nofollow free message or commentluv it still does not guarantee that its links are “do follow”.

Most of the commentluv blogs these days are having a no follow attribute you can rarely see a do follow blog to comment with. As for the plug in or ad ons there are several plug ins to use to check whether the links are do follow or no follow whether you are using a google chrome or a mozilla browser.

    • mitz says

Yes I see that many have nofollow too.. I think there is an update coming that will help with spam and maybe more can become dofollow.

Another Infromative writeup. I have a question though, what is your opinion on having a combination of both dofollow and nofollow backlinks, I have read on some other blogs that google prefers a health combination of both, what is your opinion on this?

Another simple on page search engine optimization technique you can use is to re-order your title tags. Do not use the exact same or very similar title tag for every single page on your website. Changing the order throughout the website just increases the likelihood your page will be picked up by the search engines.

    G’Day from Australia.
Very happy to have found this blog with all its information on “Commentluv” – just finished reading how to be accepted on this blog of yours & am very happy to read more from you in the future.

If you would put your SEO activities into % – blog commenting would be 5% or 20%? How much weight do you give for Article Marketing and do you use tools for Article Marketing such as Content Crooner or others? We’re very happy to followup with you on this blog. Have a great day.

We are also using nofollow social bookmarking platforms, I think the mix is what it is, and some nofollow’s won’t hurt anyway :).

Great article. I installed the firefox plugin in no time at all and now my job is much easier! Also, great tips. I want to share one too. If you find a blogger online that is active, you can add his user id to your search string and see everywhere he has posted. I find that when I follow professional bloggers, 90% of their trail is hot with dofollow’s!

this explanation is great, meaning easy to understand, even for newbie like me. add ons installed ! start searching site that i can follow :)

    • mitz says

Yes I think they are still worth while.. I cannot tell you if they show up in Google webmasters as backlinks now as I haven’t checked for a long time…They used to.. They can also provide traffic and sometimes good traffic. You also need them to create a balance and make your link building look natural.

  14. Bob Lipply says

I just want to add that you can also use a plug in wherein you can identify if it’s do-follow or nofollow blog. However, it’s more convenient to use the codes mitz’s mentioned earlier if you are still searching for blogs. Keep up the good work mitz!

So it appears the link is limited to 3 words… (see my comment above)… oh well.

But on a more interesting note, it saw that I recently wrote an article about the BBB tonight. How in tarnation did it know that?! I don’t have CommentLuv running on my WordPress site!

I have commentluv here so bloggers can showcase their latest posts. And yes I have limited the name words you can use because people were going over board! :) If you are interested in finding out more about Commentluv I have a new post about it on the homepage.

  16. Toby Foote says

Very nice information about ‘dofollow’ and ‘nofollow’. I installed the SearchStatus plugin on Firefox and the ‘nofollow’ links are showing up with a pink background. I’m going to leave it turned on, so I can find sites that will give me linkage credit for reading and commenting on their blogs. I’m surprised sites just don’t use CAPTCHA instead to turn the spam comments away.

BTW, I’m new to CommentLuv, but what is it saying when it asks “and then @ your keywords”. To experiment, let me add three here: @dofollow @nofollow @SearchStatus

    • Danny says

      Toby You misunderstand.
What you should do is write your name like this: Toby Foote@Classroom antics
Then you will get the same thing as my name. I wrote: Danny@Pole chain saw
This way the anchor text to your link will be “Classroom antics”
Which is much better SEO-wize because if somebody wants to find something about “classroom antics” then they are more likely to write something like “classroom antics” but now you are setting yourself up to rank high in Google for “Toby Foote”.

I hope this cleared it up.

Well, dofollow links are inportant I think. I’ve added so many nofollow backlinks and they are worth so little link-juice-wise.

Im going to focus on mostly dofollow backlinks in the future with a few nofollow backlinks, to make it look more natural.

Anyways thanks for your post again, I actually didnt know of that plugin.

  28. Danny Strampel says

    Great stuff Mitz!!
I didn’t think of the commentluv searchstring yet.
These are some that I use:
    intext:visitor messages
inurl:member inurl:blog “post a comment” -“comments closed” -“you must be logged in” “KEYWORD” inurl:blog “post a comment” -“comments closed” -“you must be logged in” “KEYWORD”

I always start by checking the links of my competition. Sometimes they have more sites so I can’t find all the links through checking one site, so I search for the names they use on the fora and blogs.
That’s how I find a lot of links with not much work. Just find someone who is already doing what you want to do (finding links) and check what he/she already found.
    I hope this helps anyone.

Definately agree, also If you do website design you will notice that everything works better in either FF, Chrome, Safari etc. IE seems to want to do everything their own way and cares little about CSS it seems. Even IE9 which was meant to address alot of issues seems more out of date than FF was 2 years ago lol!

    • says

Hey, just stop…why you don’t have a little fait in google? of course FF is more complex but chrome is 3x faster than FF. And don’t forget, FF is more older than Chrome and is still not as fast as Chrome…just give it some time…and you’ll see that Chrome will be an excellent browser.
