Many of us blog, whether that’s for business purposes or simply for fun, we want our content to be read, otherwise what is the point in putting it out there! Some blogs are doomed to fail from the moment you write the title on the page, often this is simply down to the topic. Some topics go along way online, some fall at the first hurdle. To ensure your blog generates as much reads as possible you need to pick a popular blog topic.
Here is a look at the top ten online blog topics-
1. Health Blog Topics
Think about it, health blog topics are hot and number one makes perfect sense. At some point in our lives we all plan to ‘get fit’ or ‘loose x amount of weight.’ In fact most of us plan diets several times a year and women spend 60% of their lives on a diet. The recent government campaigns to get us all fit and healthy have increased the interest in our health too. So write about losing weight, write about eating well, diet tips and so on…you can’t go far wrong with this subject.
2. Fashion And Beauty
This ties in with the health blogs- we all want to look our best! There is a lot of pressure to fit in in this world and be the best we can, and the easiest place for us to turn for advice is to the internet. Fashion and beauty blogs can be anything from fashion trends to skin care. If you are offering advice on improving our appearance readers will snap it up.
3. Relationships
Our relationships are extremely important to us. Whether that be our partner, friends or family. Often it is easier for us to Google a question rather than ask the advice of a loved one. Relationship advice blogs do very well and often generate loyal followers who rely on their advice.
4. Finance
This is a difficult time when it comes to money. With the recession still going strong we all have some financial issues or worries. Offer up financial advice and those with financial problems will come flocking, after all, it’s free help!
5. Open Advice
As stated above we all love a free bit of help, especially given that so many of us are suffering finically. Open advice blogs offer advice across a wide range of subjects and offers the reader to ask a question or advice, and in return you answer that question in the form of a blog, offering it up to all your readers. Chances are if one person has a problem others will be suffering too. This is also very helpful for you as it saves you coming up with new topics as they are given to you by your readers.
6. Celebrities
We all love a bit of celebrity gossip! Anyone who says they don’t isn’t being completely truthful. You have to be on the mark to blog about celebs though, if you don’t write and publish your blog about a specific event within a couple of hours of it being announced there is little point in writing it at all. For example when it was released that Kate Middleton was pregnant do you think anyone read the blog which announced the news a day after everyone else did? Probably not.
7. How To
How to blogs offer step by step guides of how to do something. For example if I Googled ‘How to bleed a radiator,’ I would expect to find a nicely laid out step by step guide making my life an awful lot simpler. I can’t even think now how people found out how to do things like this before how to blogs…perhaps phoned someone in the yellow pages? Anyway, these blogs are great because they help people and you can find out almost anything!
8. Social Media
Social media has become huge in the last few years, so it’s no wonder that we want to know all about it. From guides to stats to social media faux pas, we want to know about it all!
9. Technology
We all want to stay up to date with the latest technology, but rather than spending thousands trying everything out, we decide to take the free option of reading about it online. From apples latest products to a review of a UK SEO company, we want to know about it and hear about others experiences. We also turn to technology blogs when considering making a new purchase. Write guides, reviews and opinion pieces!
10. Blogging Tips
Of course the topic of this very blog would be on the list! Otherwise I would be going against my own advice. Blogging is becoming ever more popular and many of us have a burning question ‘what makes a good blog?’ To write a popular blogging blog write helpful tips, advice and topic suggestions.

Yes I agree that tech stuff is one of the best topics!
Nice tips for the blog topics and I think Technology and Blogging tips are the two best topic and my all post are falls in these two categories. After reading this post I ma thinking for health and fashion topics also. Thanks for sharing this useful post.
The topics listed above are indeed some of the most popular ones these days. However, a great topic is only half of the job. You have to provide high quality content ont he blog if you want to make it through.
One topic is missing in the list that is “Go Green” which is going popular all around the world. The need is to just give practical tips on how to go green in every minute of your life. Admitted that advertisers competition is little less in it but as soon as its market demand is created it would have huge potential to be monetized

I started a “How-To” site last year but it was a failure. The reason being it was targeting multiple niches and couldn’t come first on Google page on any niche.
My suggestion to any newbie will be to target a particular niche rather focusing on multiple ones.

It takes time to be able to rank against the big boys unless you hit a keyword they haven’t done. You also need some age behind your domain and a lot of consistency. 🙂
I’ll agree that the blog topics above are the overall most popular, and so it might benefit a beginner to start off with one of these to gain experience. From what I’ve observed though, the most successful bloggers are niche bloggers who offer their readers tips and useful information. One great example is SEO blogs because those who practice SEO read them to sustain their own business. The idea works for all businesses though.
I absolutely agree that all people love celebrity blogs. They are always after their favorite celebs and often stalk them just to know what’s the latest in them. So, its not new anymore that this niche has one of the most read and visited.
All of these blog topics are famnous niches that bloggers love to write on. For example, say healthy, relationships, technology, fashion, food, etc. are all interesting topics, which a reader would love to read about. These topics are attractive and the content is useful in our daily lifestyle.

Agreed. The reason that these are popular is because people rely on blogs like these to gain knowledge in order to advance their own career. The problem is that in order to be successful with blogs like these you already have to possess a lot of experience, so maybe they’re not ideal for beginners.
Health is probably the most lucartive niche. People are always willing to pay for their problems 🙂 At the end, nothings is valuable than health.

I guess technology and blogging is one of the most used niche blogs now a days and I think its okay because it is very easy to get information about these two topics and people are also very eager to search about these things.!! other niches are also good but you have to be professional or experienced on those fields.

This list is so on point. However, for open advice, i think that niche/segment is not as popular as it used to be. For instance, askthebuilder.com and askdavetaylor.com have seen drops in traffic in recent times.
