Ouch! Google has really gone too far now. The highly regarded guest blogging community called Myblogguest and anyone associated with it received a Google penalty. I am shocked and I really didn’t think Google could piss me off any further.
What happened to being judged by the content you publish? Well this is clearly not Google’s approach. They obviously wanted to kill some spam and took a whole bunch of awesome content producers down with them.
I agree that there are spammers in every aspect of website promotion and making money online, but what about the real people who contribute awesome content to the internet world?
To Quote a users comment on mattcutts.com/blog/guest-blogging/ of which I should not link to in case I get done for passing page rank to an un-trusted source.
It’s up to Google to get rid of spam. It’s *NOT* up to Google to decide which brands should be notable enough to be allowed to write guest posts somewhere. You guys better take this idea back to the drawing board, because at present it only seems focused on (once again) rewarding people with big names and bigger marketing budgets – using the same old excuse that those big bad blackhat gamers are spoiling “organic” search for everyone.
Google stopped being truly organic, years ago, and this had very little to do with blackhatters.
Google Penalized Myblogguest And All its Users
How do I know this? Well all of my sites got penalized, that’s how. Even though I was very picky with the content I took from Myblogguest, I still got taken down through association.
Some of my sites only had less than ten articles from this service but the sites are associated with it so they lost their ranking.
Am I worried. NO
Why? Because I am sick of Google’s stand over tactics. Google is not God, as they might think they are.
Am I angry? Hell yeah! I hate Google telling me how to run my business.
What exactly did I lose? My page rank. As far as I can see probably also some Google traffic but luckily I have been moving away from that traffic source for a long time.
Can I Still make Money Without Google Traffic?
Hell yeah! All you have to do is keep promoting your articles, getting subscribers to your list, and just keep building..
Learn to survive without Google traffic and your business will be fine.
And the number tip is to stop trying to work by Google’s rules.. This is because they can decide that something is bad at the click of a button.
So You Can Write All The Awesome Content You Like But You Can’t Have a Link?
Who is Google to say? And the big question is when are they going to hit a site that you are involved in. When I saw that Myblogguest had been hit I also went and checked other popular sites to see if they got hit.. NO they didn’t. None of the ones I expected got hit. But will they?
I am wondering about content curating, republishing other peoples content and other ways of publishing and if they will get hit in the future? Sites publish other people’s content that has already been published on their own blogs with links and all. Basically not much original content and links to any site in their network of RSS feeds. Hmm, wonder how that works? Will they get done for bad outbound links?
And what about sites like JustRetweet where you exchange tweets with others? Will those users get hit?
Guest Blogging is DEAD According To Google!
I hate this one with a vengeance! Why do you think Google wants to stop people from creating their own amazing traffic sources? Yeah just think about that for a minute…..because if we don’t get our own traffic then all that is left is Google.
Let me tell you that website traffic is big business and Google is moving towards owning the monopoly on this. Anyone that makes money online knows how valuable traffic is.
So should you stop guest blogging in the fear of being penalized? I don’t think so. I want traffic directly from related sites and I also want to build relationships with the people that visit from those sites.
Why would I give up my number one content marketing strategy just in case Google starts to penalize that too. This is how I make money…not from Google traffic.
Why Should I Give In To Google?
My sites have great content and anything I write and publish is pretty good. I have my standards. I always think, “Is this good enough to represent my site”? If it is then I publish.
So why should I give in? Well I am not sure if I will. One of my sites has had a penalty for at least a month now for outbound links. That is links I have on my site leading out. I did submit a reconsideration request but it didn’t work. I am not too sure how far I have to go to please Google so I have just stopped trying.
In the meantime my traffic is increasing but I have done nothing (but guest posting). So I am thinking that I will just continue with what I am doing and not let the stress of this Google penalty get me down. Who knows what they will penalize next?
Conclusion To My Google Penalty
Unfortunately Google thinks I have published content to gain links to sway the rankings. Surely they MUST REALISE that building links on the internet has many other uses besides building them to rank in Google.
Building links to your website brings you so many other benefits but Google is using scare tactics to stop you. Just sit there for a minute and ask yourself WHY? I know everyone will cry out about the spammers but surely Google is smart enough to distinguish between the two.
