It is now a nightmare trying to sift through comments on your website as the automatic comment software has taken over the world. It is even worse if you have a few websites to manage. I am totally sick of the ill focused, hollow comments that are showing up lately.How could you use this automatic commenting software and put your name to this rubbish? Maybe you are not using the software, but outsourcing to someone to do it for you. Either way it is not a good idea.
On the other hand I love it when real people comment on my posts. I mean the real people who were moved enough to take the time to write something that is related to the post they had just read.

If you read through these comments you will see they have been spun or written to suit any blog or website. Not one of them mentions any particular subject. What a waste of time this is for me. If anyone knows how to stop these comments please let me know. This is a great way to ruin a blogging community.

On a previous blog of mine, I made all comments no-follow, but “awarded” one do-follow per post.
Of course the winner would the what I regarded as the best contribution to the discussion.

Somewhere on another post on this website someone mentioned TanTanNoodles anti spam. He said that he combines that with akismet and that keeps 99.9% out.
I personally don’t know because Akismet is keeping out all the spam at the moment for me.
I think the automatic commenting is seen as the magic bullet/pill/technique to many people.
They all want to be number 1 in Google but they don’t want to put in all the hard work that is necesary.
And as long as it gives them some good results it will remain popular.
People want to get rich without working.
Understandable but in most cases not very realistic.
Let’s hope the innovations of the anti-spam software designers (or whatever they are called) will be enough to take on the innovations of blackhat-seo spammers.

I am using GASP and Akismet still to this day.. People say they can get by with one but I have needed both… Akismet is picking up alot of spam still…and Gasp is stopping the auto comments …I am happy with them…

Thanks for the Spam-Comment List, I was getting alot of those too, but as soon as I installed “Defensio Anti-Spam” And “Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin” together, I’ve started to see amazing changes.
It is very difficult for Spam to come through now and if it does go past “G.A.S.P” then Defensio immediately catches it.
Up to now these 2 plugins are the best for handling spam.

I tried GASP by itself and got 96 comments in one hour…So I quickly put Akismet back with it…But I am looking for something else to go with GASP. I have heard great things, but it does not work by itself. I will now try Defensio now…Thanks for the info!
Most link builders are using auto posting tools like xrumer etc and they are using very smart comments in such promotions . I have noticed that many new bloggers take such comments are good and also approve them from spam sections too .
Guide – If you find any good comments in spam section than you must copy and google it . You can easily notice the result because few of them must be already posted on auto approving blogs .
