I know you are probably getting sick of articles about search engine optimization but I can’t help it, you need to know how to SEO your Youtube video title, tags and description. In this tutorial I am going to show you how to find the right keywords to put into your Youtube video title. This is a great step in the right direction to getting more views on Youtube and then finally getting more traffic to your website.
Learning how to SEO (search engine optimization) for a Youtube video is an important part of your website and Youtube channel promotion. If you just slap up any old title and description you have less chance of getting the Youtube views that your video deserves. Why not do a little research and get more traffic to your Youtube video?
How to research a Youtube video title – Step One
Searching in Youtube
I am going to use a video I made as an example. It’s about making a Paypal buy in now button.
#1. Go to Youtube to the top search bar and type a few different versions of your Youtube video title.
This is what I would type in:
- Create a PayPal button
- Make a PayPal button
- Buy it now button
- PayPal button
Now the next question is which one is the most popular on Youtube. You can use the Google keyword tool to find keywords if you prefer but I like to use Youtube search and the result it shows.
When I have typed in all the possible Youtube video titles as shown above, I now need to see which video has the most views.
For example if I search for “paypal button” and the first few videos have about 2,000 views, then I would move to the next keywords. So if I then searched for “create a paypal button” and the videos coming up showed 50,000 views..Hello?? There is your answer. If you are trying to get your video to the top of Google search and not Youtube then I would use the Google keyword tool.
#2. Pick the most popular Youtube video and look at the video stats.
In the screen shot below you can see the show stats button that is under every video on Youtube. Simply press on it to see the Statistics for the video.
Below I have the discovery events which is how the Youtube video has been found. A video might get traffic from a referral from another video, Youtube search, or maybe Google search. There are other ways but these are the most important in this case.
You can research the stats for a few more videos but we are looking for keywords that bring traffic.
When I researched this Youtube video title I found a few keywords that attract traffic.
- paypal button
- how to create a paypal button
- paypal account
Now to create my Youtube video title I am going to use a combination of them all. If I cannot fit them all in the Youtube video title without making it look stupid, then I will include the keywords in the description and tags.
